Week 04 · Winter Arc

Arc Builder

Winter Arc runs 1 October to 1 January. Ninety-two days. This is the part before it — deciding what yours is actually for, while there is still time to decide.

Until Winter Arc

15days

2 weeks to decide what it is for. Most people spend them deciding to start deciding.

1 — What this arc is for

One line. You read it back on 1 January.

2 — Numbers to move

Anything with a number on it. Not only the gym — what you earn and what you build count the same here. Optional.

3 — The daily

These become the checklist you open every morning from 1 October. Pick what you will actually do — this list is the arc.

The one line and at least one daily. Targets are optional — some arcs are not about a number.

About this tool

Winter Arc is the ninety-two days from 1 October to 1 January. Most people announce one and then start it cold, with no record of where they began — so on 1 January there is nothing to compare against and no way to know whether it worked.

This does not predict anything. Every figure is a number you typed, multiplied across ninety-two days — five workouts a week is sixty-six workouts. Seeing that is usually the first honest look at what has just been promised.

There is no total across the different lines, on purpose. Ninety- two days without alcohol and sixty-six workouts are not the same unit, and adding them would reward a longer list rather than a harder one.

Your plan is saved — that is the point of it, since the same list becomes your checklist on 1 October. It is stored against a random code and nothing else: no name, no email, no account, nothing tying it to you. Without the code the site cannot find your arc at all, and neither can anyone else. Be aware of the flip side: the code is the only key, so anyone you show it to can open your arc, and I can read the database it sits in.

The code is remembered on this device so you rarely need to type it. Write it down anyway — it is how you open the same arc on your phone.
